Portfolios

Portfolios

In the CHOICE program, portfolios are used to demonstrate learning and to showcase students’ best work. The requirements of the portfolio are explained to students in Co-op (please see the forms at the bottom of this page for more information).  Specific Portfolio Skill Requirements are explained and checked in academic classes.  Co-op classes usually set aside one day per week to work on portfolios–sometimes more when a portfolio deadline or conference is approaching.

Conferences

Goal-setting Conferences

At the beginning of the year, CHOICE students are required to create three year-long goals (two academic and one personal) and to develop strategies for achieving these goals. The purpose of the goal-setting conference in September is for your child to meet with his/her co-op teacher and parent(s) to discuss and finalize these goals.

Mid-year Conferences

The purpose of the mid-year conference is for your child to meet with his/her co-op teacher and parent(s) to examine progress made on goals set at the beginning of the year and progress made on Portfolio Skill Requirements. Your child will present their accomplishments  and show evidence of progress.

End of Year Conferences

The purpose of the end of year conference is for your child to meet with his/her co-op teacher and parent(s) to share progress made on goals and additional Portfolio Skill Requirements that were completed since the mid-year conference. In addition, your child will present several end of the year reflections and a visual that represents his or her year in CHOICE.
